Did you upgrade your Norton Antivirus or Internet Security version before your subscription to the previous version had expired? If so, did you get a refund or credit? Symantec pulled a no-no!
Thanks to friend Jean for the heads up on this subject. We investigated and found this article at http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/symantec-faces-class-action-over-norton-antivirus.html
A class action lawsuit against Symantec Corp. (“Symantec”) has recently been commenced, which alleges that Symantec, the company that sells Norton computer security products, has an unlawful policy of terminating subscription time of certain customers who purchased upgrades, without providing a credit or refund for unused subscription time and fails to disclose this policy. Symantec denies these allegations and asserts that, at all times, its actions and business practices have been lawful and appropriate. The court has not ruled on the merits of the claims.
The class is defined as follows: All persons and entities residing in the United States of America who, between December 5, 2001 and April 11, 2008, purchased online a Symantec Subscription Product with a Stock Keeping Unit that designates the product as an upgrade, the installation of which resulted in the uninstallation of another Symantec Subscription Product prior to the expiration of that Product’s subscription. Symantec Subscription Product means any antivirus, internet security, internet safety and other software product sold by or on behalf of Symantec with a subscription for protection updates, content updates and/or other updates, including Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton SystemWorks, Norton Confidential and Norton 360. Excluded from the class are all persons and entities who purchased upgrades through Symantec’s Online Store. Also excluded are defendant, its agents and affiliates, any government entities, and any persons and entities for whom Symantec added back the subscription time upon request.
The Court also certified a subclass consisting of: All members of the class who purchased online, primarily for personal, household or family purposes, a Symantec Subscription Product with a Stock Keeping Unit that designates the product as an upgrade, the installation of which resulted in the uninstallation of another Symantec Subscription Product prior to the expiration of that Product’s subscription.

Thanks to Wired Lion Member Pat for this Auto Alert!
Here is info worth the price of your car....WHAT WILL the car thieves THINK OF NEXT?
The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or truck, write down the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN #.
I didn't believe this e-mail when I got it, so I called Chrysler-Dodge and pretended I had lost my keys. They told me to just bring in the VIN #, and they would cut me one on the spot, and I could also order the keyless device if I wanted.
The Car Dealer's Parts Department will make a duplicate key from the VIN #, and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car. He doesn't have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself. All he has to do is walk up to your Car, insert the key and off he goes to a local Chop Shop with your vehicle.
You don't believe it? It IS that easy. To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Metal Label located on the dash board. By law, you cannot remove the VIN, but you CAN cover it so it can't be viewed through the windshield by a car thief. I urge you to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals another car or truck. I slipped a 3 x 5 card over the VIN NUMBER.
PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

Type your phone number into the Google search bar and you may find it comes up with your name and address, and maybe even more! Thanks to WL Member Bev and good friend Jim for this email:
Subject: Be Aware!! Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit Map you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book. If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming!!! Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the Mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary! Please look up your own number!!!!!! ! In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: Google (http://www.google.com/ ) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours. Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, you may know someone else who needs to know this. It takes Sex Offenders right to your front door!! Please share this information with friends & family!!

Thanks to friend Chuck for this GREAT IDEA! PASS THIS ONE ALONG!
"In Case of Emergency"
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this " ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" (In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE".
Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this . It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest .
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.
Be sure it's in your kid's cell phones also.....
A great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
